No Water—Water Workshop

Many of the skills you and your PWD need to succeed in a water trial can be trained and practiced on land. Be ready when warmer weather arrives!
9 a.m. to Noon Beginning dog/handler teams
Sessions will be designed for those who want to learn more about water work or who are already training for Junior or Apprentice Water Dog. Teams will rotate through various practice stations, which will include Marker Work, Boat Work (using agility tables as “boats”), Recall Work, and Retrieve Work. Teams will also have a chance to simulate full run-throughs of Junior and Apprentice levels.
1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Advanced dog/handler teams
Teams in training for Working, Courier, and Master will be able to practice full runthroughs. In addition, teams will rotate through various practice stations, which will include Marker and Go-out Work, Boat Work, and Advanced Retrieve Work (multiple-article retrieves, double-directed retrieves, Master-level discrimination retrieves, and retrieves with distraction).
Participants will receive a packet of training materials in advance of the workshop. Instruction and assistance at each station will be provided by members of DelMarVa Portuguese Water Dog Club. In the past two summers, Club members have racked up 52 water trial passes and earned 28 water titles from JWD to MWD3.

We're using perfdog.com to accept all entries. Enter online and pay with a credit card. The Perfdog administration fee is included in the registration fee. Registration closes on February 28.
Entries and any extras (meals, parking, etc.) may be cancelled or changed online prior to the closing date, with refunds available to keep as PerfDog credit, refund to credit card, or mail via check. Entries and extras may be cancelled online after the closing date, but no refunds will be given.
